Medford -- proclaiming itself "The Center of the Rogue Valley" -- provides small town charm with metro-sized amenities. About 27 miles north of the California border in Oregon (with no sales tax and no self-serve gas stations), Medford lies 118 miles east of the Pacific and 75 miles west of Klamath Falls. Among 32 golf courses in southern Oregon, nine surround Medford, also offering rafting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and other outdoorsy fun. Attractions include the Applegate Trail Interpretive Center, Butte Creek Mill with its historic water-powered grist mill and country store, and the Camp White Historical Association and Museum. Harry and David's Country Village, flagship of the catalog marketer, awaits on Center Drive.

The Main Antique Mall on Riverside Avenue attracts both browsers and serious collectors. Bargain hunters head for the Pacific Northwest Market Place and Outlet Mall. Shoppers also head for places like Bear Creek Plaza, Biddle Square, Black Bird Shopping Center, Black Oak Village, Blue Sky Plaza, Poplar Square, and Rogue Valley Mall. The Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market operates an open-air market at the Medford Armory. Area wineries include Ashland Vineyards & Winery, Bear Creek Winery, Bridgeview Vineyards, Del Rio Vineyards, EdenVale Winery, John Michaels Champagne Cellar, and Weisinger's Winery.
